Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Gerard Salonga, conductor
Initially disappointed to receive a bandaneón instead of roller skates, the 8-year-old Astor Piazzolla eventually mastered the instrument, leading to the revolution of tango - the soul of Argentina. Conducted by Gerard Salonga, MPO celebrates Piazzolla by performing his most enduring works, including Adios Nonino, a poignant tribute to his father. Elizondo and Marquez explore national dances of South America, while Copland captures the vitality of popular nightclub “El Salón México”.
